only difference is because of thr marginal cost of production they can theoretically get back more than is put in and I think this fuels the continued interest in this scheme

I mean it’s like adam smith’s pin factory example, a craftsman can produce a few pins himself. a whole factory team together can produce much more and a person as a part of that team can do more than produce themselves sometimes. so they think this is true with governments, and it can be, but the incentives are different than of private corporations.
